A dojo is a Japanese term which literally means "place of the way". The term can refer to a formal training place for any of the Japanese do arts but typically it is considered the formal gathering place for students of any Japanese martial arts style to conduct training, examinations and other related encounters.
Uke is a Japanese term used in Japanese martial arts to refer the person who "receives" a technique (helper to learner) in partnered practice.
Tori is a Japanese term used in Japanese martial arts to refer to the executor of a technique (worker, learner) in partnered practice.

Metsuke, Japanese term used in budo. Eye-to-eye contact without focusing on a single point which permits awareness of the total field of vision. Eye contact without emotions.
